Hay guys. Back to my more casual blog (vs. fomoblog.com) where I can talk about my feelings and… more feelings. Today, my bro and I took a day trip to Carlsbad, which is by San Diego. You guys know I’d … Continue reading
Whooooaaaaa guys. This movie was super lit. And the fact that it’s a true story makes it that much cooler. Shoutout to Jonah Hill for doing the damn thang. My bro goes “I thought he lost weight” lmao. Def not for this film. He killed it though, and I have to mention how beautiful his blue eyes are haha. Miles Teller is the other star who’s name I was trying to figure out the entire movie.
War Dogs at The Grove at 4:35pm with my bros. Shout out to them I love them so much!!! Fr we had a good ass Sunday today. It was great and sad it’s over haha. The theater was pretty packed but we found seats to the side. This was the big movie opening this weekend besides Kubo (OMG I almost said Kabu again). It got pretty good ratings, like 75% ish. I actually think it deserves higher.
Here’s the plot: Based on the true story of two young men, David Packouz and Efraim Diveroli, who won a $300 million contract from the Pentagon to arm America’s allies in Afghanistan.
Hmmm, dunno if that did it justice haha. It takes place in the 2000s in Miami, which made me hella miss Miami haha. I was like…. wait. Could I live there? So beautiful. Basically Jonah and Miles get involved in a gun smuggling business which lands them hella money. But of course: mo money, mo problems.
It’s really good. It’s 2 hours long so prepare for that. My second bro said it’s one of those movies that keep you engaged the entire time, like you have to keep watching. My lit ass fell asleep for a little lmao and I was like sad about it. Like I was sad I missed shit when I woke up haha. I cannot blaze during the day guys haha. I just can’t. Can’t hang.
If you’re into drug movies like Pablo Escobar type shit, I’d recommend this for sure. Before the movie, me and my bros tried to hit the Kanye West pop up shop in LA. Well me, and I dragged them haha. FAIL AF. We at first drove by it because I had this grand idea of cutting the line, but then I legit felt bad bc kids were waiting for like 2 hours haha. 2 hours standing in the heat haha. I think I wanted to get in more for the challenge than the actual shop. Smh.
But yeah the lady at the front said there’s no media or press so I just walked away with my head down low lmao. But then! We saw a dope Kanye mural on the corner of Fairfax and Melrose, and it was right next to a gas station and I needed gas. Perf. It turns out this was an art gallery. The minute I walked in I saw Bape clothing on a rack and was like, I’m home lmao. It’s called Dom Gallery in case any of you guys want to check it out. Real small but super dope.
Before the movie I made a dispensary stop which turned into me buying a new piece. Which I haven’t done in sooooo long. This pipe only cost 12 bucks though and I seriously needed one bc I CAN’T ROLL FOR SHIT. But this means I’m gonna smoking a lot more smh. It’ll be at my side whenever I need haha.
Anyways. We were on a good one haha. And then we got a foot massage after at Wilshire Spa on the way home. Mine sucked this time haha I was so mad at my dude. He was so slow and took forever in between the transitions. I legit wanted to be like you’re wasting my money bro haha but I controlled myself. Ummm, what else.
I had my bro’s friend try to untangle my necklaces lmao sooo sad. He couldn’t haha. I think I’ma just throw them away haha. If you’re new, I spent a good portion of last night complaining about these hanger of necklaces that got tangled during my move, and then an hour wasted untangling them. There’s 3 left and it’s legit impossible and hurts my soul. I should just toss them. Yeah.
This week… is gonna suck. Ha. Meep. I’m future trippin. Tough.
TRACK OF THE DAY: Throwback. I fucking love this song.
Café Society. Had to make sure I copy and pasted that é lmao. Pause, I just realized my Flixster app was wrong about the length of the movie. Not okay haha. It was an hour 40 not an hour 25!! I swear, an hour 30 is… the marker sometimes. Not saying this movie was long at all, bc it was actually really good. Really enjoyable and pretty to look at. I was trippin over the picture of this movie. I feel like that’s not the right film term haha. Whatever camera they used, was amazing haha.
The movie takes place between New York and Los Angeles. My future home and current home, jk haha. Or am I. It takes place in the 80’s I think, but the cast in this movie is LIT. Indie films are always the way to go. Fr. They’re way better than the mainstream ones. I always determine they’re indie if they’re only playing at select theaters, aka Landmark on Pico.
One of my fav theaters, but I never go bc my they don’t accept the Moviepass haha. 9:35pm showing. There were prob like ten people in the theater. Went with my homie I haven’t seen in a minute so it was great to catch up. He hit me up and I suggested a movie of course haha. He lives in Culver so this was perf. I just realized the film was very much a love story lmao. I’ma ask him if he thought so too.
Anyways, IMDB plot: Set in the 1930s, a young Bronx native moves to Hollywood where he falls in love with the secretary of his powerful uncle, an agent to the stars. After returning to New York he is swept up in the vibrant world of high society nightclub life.
LMAO I said 80’s. Idk shit about the eras. Someone asked me before if I could choose any era, which one would I live in. I was like, uh…. none haha. Jesse Eisenberg plays the young lad from NY, who tries to go to LA to work for his uncle Steve Carell, who is a big timer in the entertainment industry. Like I said before, the picture was amazing. Every venue they shot looked sooooo bomb haha. One of them I recognized as the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, but back then there were no swarm of tourists at any given moment.
The first scene was at a Hollywood Hills party. Goals af haha. Fr, so nice.
Kristen Stewart, who I used to hate, plays the girl they both fall in love with. It’s a trip man, the age difference. Steve is like daddy status. And yeah, I’ll stop there haha. Jesse is a really good actor, but his character was just so damn nerdy haha. Wonder how he is in real life… Kirsten played her role real well. She’s super talented too. I asked my homeboy if she was really crying in the scenes and he said yes. Damn haha. I could NOT cry on demand.
Anyways, I really enjoyed the film. Def is evidence of the crazy shit that happens in life. Like, literally haha. Also, they had a pretty funny depiction of a Jewish family in NY. My homie’s Jewish ahaha.
Okay, I’d like to take this moment to say my lip hurts like a bitch. I bit it hard af after my mouth was numb at the dentist bc I didn’t wait to eat…. and then I bit it again last night!!!! In the same exact spot, so any progress it made healing goes out the door lmao. Really tho, wish there was a magic serum I could put on it so it heal right away. Come on scientists, step up.
Case of the Mondays af today. I tried to nap and it was just too damn hot in my room. My best from home actually unintentionally motivated me to workout haha. I snuck into LA fitness again. I hate the gym lmao but I had a solid sesh. Listened to a bomb playlist and then Logic’s new mixtape Bobby Tarantino. I love his flow.
AND THEN, I was in a rush bc I had to shower and get to the movie, but my hg wanted bud so being the amazing kind soul that I am, I told her to meet me at Mecca. Since my go-to dispensary got raided, this has become the one. It’s super lit and stays open til 2am. Which is why I’m sad. I got banned lmao. Legit sad about it. The security guard goes “you’re not allowed here ever again.”
I legit just dropped off the bag at my girl’s Lyft. The dude was patrolling outside and we literally just spoke, but I was in such a rush I wasn’t even thinking. Right after I turned around he legit threw a tantrum, and went off about how I could get the shop shut down. It was mad awkward. I literally just ran away and he followed me to see the car I was in. I can’t show face there anymore. Le sigh.
I get it though. It’s a business. Like I get it. I was pissed at first but after some thought, I realize it’s totally my fault. Le sigh again.
Busy day tomorrow, starting with a dentist appointment. Tear. Also, I’ve recently become addicted to grapes. But I always eat too many and my stomach hurts.
WAIT I ALMOST FORGOT. Blake Lively is in the film. She is damn fire man haha.
TRACK OF THE DAY: This came on after. One of my fav tracks ever.
This was the most random show ever haha. The lineup was just so random to me. I actually got an email hella days ago for it. It’s called Rhythm & Rhyme Fest (rhythm is so hard to spell lmao). I think I got it cause I attended Rhymefest, which is affiliated. That was with De La Soul at the same venue, Belasco in downtown LA.
Anyways. I reached out asked for press credentials, and they were like…. hella intense about it haha. We had asked for confirmation on who would be attending, they had nothing haha. Here’s the lineup: http://www.rrfest.com/. Honestly, it’s such a dope concept, and has so much potential. But yo, the show flopped for sure haha. Like I’m pretty sure they lost money.
First of all, Belasco is huge. And there’s so many layers to it haha. There were two stages, the small one upstairs. I was HELLA struggling today, like I was so dead haha. And was laying in bed contemplating even showing up. My team member was in the same exact boat lmao. He wanted to just “eat gelato and watch OITNB.” I died. I have to give a shout out to him though. He’s seriously so fucking dope, and so chill. So glad to have him as a co-worker.
I pulled up a little after 10. Met the homie who’s gf works there, so he’s at every event haha. He’s super dope though. He tried to help us get interviews which was super sweet. But nah, no artists wants to talk on their performance night haha. We first went upstairs to catch Open Mike Eagle at the smaller stage. Oh before that, we watched break dancers go at it. It was raw. MC Supernatural had already gone, which I was sad to miss. He can spit for real.
Open Mike Eagle was dope! Super Anderson Paak vibes. Apparently, he’s best friends with Hannibal Buress, who is one of my fav comedians. But yeah, actually, I’ma dl his songs rn. Good reminder. It was a tiny crowd, but some people were really feeling it. We made our way downstairs for Brother Ali, and watched almost his whole set. I go, “did he dye his beard white.” Was informed homeboy is straight albino haha. Brother Ali is hella OG and hella respected. He’s Muslim and raps about real shit.
Earl Sweatshirt came on after midnight. SNOOZE. Thank goodness for the seats provided in the photo pit lmao. We legit sat our asses down and waited. So I actually listened to Earl’s music. I remember thinking his last album was emo haha. He def has an interesting story though. He’s young af, and looked like he just rolled outta bed for this shit haha. As a headliner, come onnnn.
Being in the front had me RIGHT under his die hard fans, who knew every single line to his songs. It was cute, until they spit on me. Straight up.
I was supposed to meet my girls out in dtla after, but them shits never made it. That’s okay, cause I’m tired. My day was long. And tiring. Yoga killed me haha. As it always does.
It’s hot af in LA rn.
TRACK OF THE DAY: Anti-anxiety. Yes please.
