Saban’s Power Rangers.

_KF17640.NEF

You guys! Power Rangers was so cute lmao. I needed this on a Monday. Shout out to my homegirl d for the cause. We hit the 7:30pm at Arclight Hollywood, the most expensive movie theater in Los Angeles lmao. Halla.

My bro was supposed to come, but he’s a chicken lmao. He knows why. I stopped by his work beforehand cause it’s down the street. I love Stylehaul lmao their office is so lit. It’s right there on Sunset and Vine. Shout out to @goodgirlpr for sending me the most glorious pair of jeans. I had to support and post a photo in good lighting. So that brought to my bro’s office building lmao. Best believe I raided their snack pantry.

You guys. Power Rangers! Childhood. Per Twitter, I saw someone say this was 22 years later. Holy shit, I’m old af. That makes me so fucking sad. That means I was 4. Smh.

IMDB plot: A group of high-school kids, who are infused with unique superpowers, harness their abilities in order to save the world.

I couldn’t tell if it was PG or PG-13 the whole movie haha. So you could probably tell this is a little bit kid-ish My hg took the kids she babysat for over the weekend lmao so cute. I wish I had kids to take. I used to take clients to see movies. I miss that. But anyways. It’s just pure entertainment. This 5 bkids were so young lmao. I can’t. Wish I could have morphed into a superhero with my squad in high-school. That woulda been so lit.

The villain is cheesy but not really in a negative way. It went with the vibe of the movie. It’s literally an exact 2 hours, which made me so happy because I was able to mob to Core Power Yoga after. That 10pm Hot Power Fusion class saves lives.

Also if I was a Power Ranger, I’d def be purple. My hg said green. Both weren’t in the movie lmao. I thought it was super dope that they chose all 5 characters as different races. Statement <3.

I was up so fucking late last night :|. I went to bed when my roomie got up lmao. Honestly though, last night was the most fun I’ve had in a while. Truly. It was the Chocolate Sundaes after party at Pookey’s house in North Hills. No idea where I was but I was turnt. Btw, Pookey is the founder of CS at Laugh Factory, also Kevin Hart’s manager. Best believe I tripped when I found out lmao. Salute. He manages my fav comedian lmao. My girl is the sweetest for inviting me. Watching all the best comedians in LA ball is something everyone needs to experience.

Anyways. I was late af today. And that caused me to speed and completely miss my freeway exit and go an extra unneeded 15 minutes on the 110. Smh. I need help.

Thank god for yoga. And chocolate. And bud.

TRACK OF THE DAY: MY girl saw Zay tn, so I’m hit you with my fav track from TDE.

Logan.

logan

Holy shit everyone. Logan was amazing. Whoever says otherwise seriously has no taste in movies. This film was fire. I’m just so glad I finally got to see it. Ever since opening weekend, everyone had been raving about it. I hate being late lmao but better late than never.

I didn’t know who hadn’t seen it yet, so I literally tweeted to see if anyone wanted to go tn. My hg responded and I was ecstatic lmao. Thank you social media. I also hit up my other girl who had been wanting to go and she was d too. I love my down ass movie PICs. We hit the Arclight in Culver City bc it was the only one with a movie time that worked. It went from like 7 or 8 to 11. I hate that shit lmao. We hit the 8:10pm, and ended up stuck in the very front row lmao.

I never care about being the front, but I feel bad for people who do. We sat down and it literally felt like we were in the movie lmao. I ain’t mad. The first scene in itself was so crazy. My girl told me this is the last time Hugh Jackson is playing Wolverine. Sad times. Seriously, no one can top him in this role. Like, he is Wolverine lmao. Salute to him for being so phenomenal. His acting is perfect.

IMDB plot: In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X somewhere on the Mexican border. However, Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are upended when a young mutant arrives, pursued by dark forces.

If you fuck with Marvel, this is heaven for you lmao. Logan is Wolverine from X-Men. And the professor in the wheelchair! Gotta love him. The film is 2 hours and 15 minutes, but it’s jam-packed. I loved the action. It was definitely violent and gory, but it was also realistic. That’s rare.

I feel bad, my brother hella wanted to see this. Someone go with him lmao.

Today was my first day without a list of events, so I took full advantage. Me and my girl hiked to the wisdom tree, and loved it. I highly recommend this if you in LA. It’s right there by Griffith and the Hollywood Sign hike. The best part is when you actually get to the top and read all the notes that people leave. They’re all so damn inspirational.

Okay. Be good to others and yourself. Muah <3.

TRACK OF THE DAY: This remix though.

Hey guys. I just had a mental breakdown. Literally. So what do I do when I have a breakdown? Write about everything EXCEPT what I’m going through lmao. I can’t thank my girl for picking up my phone call earlier. … Continue reading

20th Century Women.

20th-century

Yes please. A chick flick/comedy is all needed today. It’s been a ruff month, I swear. My soulmate emailed me about 20th Century Women and I literally was like leggo lmao. Anyone who asks me to see a movie, I will make it a priority haha. If I have time of course. Today was actually supposed to be my bday celebration, but the weather was like nope. Literally, pouring. That shit would have straight flooded.

So crazy because I actually hit this make up event beforehand, which did flood. Thank god I pulled up literally right when it reopened. All the girls said they were waiting in the parking lot for 2 fucking hours. No chill. It was this event called Generation Beauty put on by Ipsy. Man, that shit was so lit lmao.

I went for my girl cause she went out of town. A 2-day pass was fucking $118. Like WHAT. But I guess you’re paying for the products. Literally, so many samples. It was honestly a blast and I went dolo haha. I hustled as much free shit as I could. It was at the L.A. Live event deck, behind Regal Theatres. V interesting, never been up there. I enjoyed getting soaked from head to toe (said no one ever). Of course, my umbrella sits in my closet all year long and the one day I need it, I don’t have it. Of course.

This movie is an Indie film, which means it’s only playing at select theaters. We mobbed to Arclight Hollywood at 5pm. I had just come from Core Power Yoga and was a hot mess, but thankfully the rain made everyone a hot mess. I took the C2 class and it was literally so fucking hard lmao. Like that instructor was advanced af. Anywho. Shout out to my Costa Rica crew, I hadn’t seen them since our trip, and fucking missed them.

It helped that this movie got 90% ratings. Rotten Tomatoes plot: During the summer of 1979, a Santa Barbara single mom and boardinghouse landlord (Annette Bening) decides the best way she can parent her teenage son (Lucas Jade Zumann) is to enlist her young tenants – a quirky punk photographer (Greta Gerwig), a mellow handyman (Billy Crudup) and her son’s shrewd best friend (Elle Fanning) – to serve as role models in a changing world.

This plot doesn’t do justice. You might need to see the trailer, or just go see it haha and trust my judgment. It’s really quirky. I really loved that our entire theater was giggling throughout. It’s 2 hours, and I didn’t check my phone once. Didn’t even think about it. It takes place during a time when people were smoking cigarettes inside their homes. That tripped me out. That mom was smoking at the dinner table, with the food right in front of her.

This film highlighted a lot of the real life issues we deal with in this day in age. So accurate, and so real. It also shows how much a mom struggles how to keep a relationship with her son. Made me feel some typa way. It also takes place in Santa Barbara, my old hood. I enjoyed it a lot. You will too. I promise.

After swallowing the pain of a $17.75 movie ticket, I proceed to lose my parking ticket, which cost another $12. Literally had a meltdown. I decided last minute to hit church at Mosaic for their 7pm service. First time all year, and I was dolo. I liked it cause no one could see me cry lmao. Yelped a lit foot massage after. Shout out to Asia Foot Spa on Sunset.

Crazy week ahead. Sigh.

TRACK OF THE DAY: This song is fire.

The Accountant.

0

My poor brother lmao. My poor fucking brother. I drive him literally insane. One day bro, I’ll pay you back. I promise. Anyways. We caught the 8pm showing of The Accountant at The Grove, late af. That might have been why I was so confused the entire movie. But yo, this movie was lit. It was really intense. I think every accountant out there should watch it, just cause. Like their boss should take the company as an outing haha.

Wiki: Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a mathematics savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Using a small-town CPA office as a cover, he makes his living as a freelance accountant for dangerous criminal organizations. With a Treasury agent (J.K. Simmons) hot on his heels, Christian takes on a state-of-the-art robotics company as a legitimate client. As Wolff gets closer to the truth about a discrepancy that involves millions of dollars, the body count starts to rise.

So Ben Affleck kills it per usual. And Anna Kendrick in the movie was tripping me out. I’ve only seen her play funny roles, like bizarre comedy roles haha. So seeing her all serious in a movie was weird. Plus kept noticing how tiny she was. Like I wonder how she is in person lmao. Okay I’ll stop. She did good.

This movie caught my eye particularly bc I used to be a math major. Like… I fucking loved that shit. Algebra was so fun to me lmao. I’m so sad. I always say I feel like I had so much potential but then I discovered partying and that was the end of that. My brain is fried. In reality, I transferred to UCLA as a math major but that shit was way too hard. It was a joke. Not that philosophy was much easier, but my ego wasn’t shot from getting back 30%’s on the midterms. This was AFTER I studied my ass off.

Wow anyways. What they don’t tell you in the plot is that Ben is autistic. It’s a crazy aspect of the film but it was extremely eye-opening. No spoiler alert, pretty sure it’s in the trailer haha. Definitely a solid movie. A little over 2 hours. I’d recommend it. Again, esp for you accountants. And I feel like a lot of my friends are. They work the craziest longest hours. Mad respect.

Today was a fucking Monday if it ever was one. I couldn’t sleep til late (stan) so work was a definite struggle. Took a nap in my car on my lunch. Please tell me other people do that. I feel like the minority.

Went straight to the dentist for a checkup. Went to the doctor to pick up my scripts. Went to Core Power Yoga 2. That shit had me sweating profusely. So necessary though.

Then went home to get my laptop because I had to go to Verizon to get a new iPhone. I completely shattered my screen last night, which is starting to feel like a damn curse. I had a free upgrade (my bro’s line, again, ty) and literally drove all the way home so I could back up my shit at the store.

BUT IT WOULDN’T BACK UP. LITERALLY. Kept saying “turn off Find my iPhone” when it was off on all devices. Verizon told me I had to go to Apple cause they were stumped. So of course, The Grove, which is the busiest Genius Bar in all of LA, verbatim from one of their workers. The dude was nice and tried to help me, but couldn’t. Cool. I had to come back in the AM right when they open. As if I have time for this.

Sorry guys. My blog is literally for me to complain about my unnecessarily dramatic life. It’s like, drama with myself. Lmao.

And then I fucked up and didn’t tell my bro I was at The Grove so he drove all the way to the Beverly Center cause that’s where Verizon was. Smh. So sorry bro. You hate me.

The popcorn at the movies was stale. Goodbye.

TRACK OF THE DAY: Friend put me on this track last night. FEELS.

The Birth of a Nation.

0

Wow. I’m honestly completely speechless. This movie was extremely heavy and left me at a loss for words. I hadn’t heard much about it, but people told me it was a slave movie. That’s a topic I definitely showed interested in growing up in high school. I hated history too. Martin Luther King was always an idol to me.

This picture captures the emotion in this film. I’m gonna hit you with the Wiki plot bc IMDB’s is pointless:

Nat Turner is an enslaved Baptist preacher who lives on a Virginia plantation owned by Samuel Turner. With rumors of insurrection in the air, a cleric convinces Samuel that Nate should sermonize to other slaves, thereby quelling any notions of an uprising. As Nate witnesses the horrific treatment of his fellow man, he realizes that he can no longer just stand by and preach. On Aug. 21, 1831, Turner’s quest for justice and freedom leads to a violent and historic rebellion in Southampton County.
Sorry if that was long. I guess this was the remake of the original one. My homeboy said it literally showed maybe 10-15% of the whole story, which tripped me out. Everything that took place in this film was a lot to take in.
Bringing light into the situation… what happened to us before the movie was so bizarre. Literally think back and laugh. I was late coming from Westwood, so my homeboy bought his ticket. 7:15pm at Arclight Culver City (yup was just here). He said J10. Cool.
Met my hg and tell the cashier dude the movie time and he asked us to pick our seats, but we see J10 is empty. Odd. Didn’t think anything of it… probably should have.
We walk into theater 4 bc that’s what our tickets said. You guys. We literally walked into the end of the movie, like literally we watched the last 7 minutes of Birth of a Nation. He put us in the wrong fucking theater and somehow, someway, we managed to catch the ending. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?
Of course I complained and we got free passes but still, we saw the fucking ending haha. The cashier gave us tickets to the 8:15pm showing, which was in the same theater as the 6:15, so we walked in for the end. I was literally wondering why it was so crazy too. SMH. If there ever was an SMH, it would be here.
Anyways, we finally get in and meet my friend who I yelled at saying he was in the wrong theater. LMAO. Sorry boo. Literal hot mess.
The movie is 2 hours long and I honestly say, only go see it if you can handle it. I had to look away many times. One scene honestly broke my heart. It really did and it’ll probably repeat in my head every time I think of this movie. Definitely need to be thick-boned for this one. I cried for sure.
Also, going with 2 of my African American friends, I really realize how many black friends I do have. Some are REALLY into the Black Lives Matter movement, some don’t say a word (making me wonder if they care as much). I just wanted to say I respect each and every one of my friends, regardless of race. Everyone has their own experiences with racism.
It was EXTREMELY slow at work today. You guys don’t know how I bad I wanted Colombus Day off lmao. This holiday doesn’t apply to most of us though. Definitely had a lot of chocolate and slept in my car on my lunch. Happy Monday right?
Went to Core Power Yoga Sculpt in Westwood after. Thank you, as always. Then had a dental procedure for my tooth that was pulled. I guess this was an implant? Idk but it was painful. My mouth is STILL numb.
And I had to get antibiotics and I literally choked when I tried to take it while driving on my way to the movies. I thought I was gonna die. Those pills are too big.
And my cheap ass passed on the Motrin cause I didn’t wanna pay and I had Advil at home. My mouth literally started throbbing in the movie. I was in pain.
I’m a joke.
Bye.

TRACK OF THE DAY: My girl hates this song and I find it hilarious. I like it haha.

Deepwater Horizon.

0

Omg the movies. I’ve been so busy I legit didn’t even know what was playing in theaters. Which is a first. I don’t like it lmao. #FOMO. Probably a good thing though, bc movies are fucking $15.50. How is that even possible?

Anyways. I had plans to hang out with the broskee tn bc I fucking miss him. We finally were able to catch a flick. We chose Deepwater Horizon bc Mark Wahlberg and Kate Hudson. Duh. And it got bomb reviews, like 89%. And it was less than 2 hours. 7:10pm at The Grove.

It’s based on a true story, which is always a plus: A story set on the offshore drilling rig Deepwater Horizon, which exploded during April 2010 and created the worst oil spill in U.S. history.

Basically a drilling accident gone bad. My roomie had seen it and I asked if it was good. She said it was loud. Lots of screaming. Which is v accurate. But somehow, my ass fell asleep lmao. Idk man, idk. Had a long ass day at work and then went to Core Power Yoga Sculpt and died. But really. I’m super out of shape.

The movie was a little slow to begin IMO. But it got really intense toward the latter half. Pretty surreal how something like that can happen. My bro (who actually stayed awake) mentioned how sad it was what people do for money. I guess they wanted the product so bad they put people’s lives at risk. Smh.

We talked throughout the entire movie haha so much to catch up on. Anyways. Life is unexplainable rn. Bye.

TRACK OF THE DAY: if you haven’t heard Solange’s album, I definitely recommend it. She’s turning everyone’s heads.

Wow, I’m kind of in shock rn now haha. I just saw a private screening of the movie Kicks, which stars CJ Wallace, Biggie’s son. That’s reason enough to watch it right? It gets even better, it’s based in the … Continue reading

Hands of Stone.

Screen Shot 2016-08-30 at 10.09.06 PM.png

Whoa this pic is lit haha. I stole it off Usher’s IG. I’ve been wanting to see this movie ever since I heard he was starring as boxing legend Sugar Rey Leonard. I was literally expecting him to be in the entire movie but SURPRISE. He’s not even the main character lmao. It’s actually about his boxing opponent Roberto Duran, who’s also a legend. His trainer is Robert De Niro in the movie, another legend haha.

Hands of Stone at The Grove at 7:10pm. Smh at me, I had invited a bunch of people and my ass was late af haha. Standard. Good thing the theater was empty af haha I had my homegirl just choose a row. Shout out to her. I went with my 2 girls and homeboy I hadn’t seen in a minute. I got there literally when the movie started, the exact dot. How do I do it?

During the movie, I had a moment because I realized my homie looks JUST LIKE USHER. Hashtag doppleganger. It was funny. Usher’s fro was poppin though. He legit looked like he was from the 80’s. I asked my hg if this was his acting debut, and she goes, no he was in She’s All That. Lawl.

IMDB plot: The legendary Roberto Duran and his equally legendary trainer Ray Arcel change each other’s lives.

This does the movie no justice haha. I’m about to hit you with the Wiki summary, it’s long don’t hate me.

At age 72, legendary trainer Ray Arcel (Robert De Niro) comes out of retirement to coach world-class Panamanian boxer Roberto Durán (Édgar Ramírez). Arcel becomes a mentor to the ferocious fighter, convincing him that winning ultimately comes down to strategy. After scoring knockout after knockout, Duran prepares for a bout against Sugar Ray Leonard, the undefeated lightweight champion. Five months later, on Nov. 25, 1980, the two titans meet for an infamous rematch that makes boxing history.

Obvi, this is based on a true story. I was honestly really touched by it. Like I clapped at the end haha. I guess that’s expected with a film about a boxing legend repping the US. The film did a great job shedding light on the politics behind the sport, and how these professional athletes rep their country, and the impact they have on their people. It’s a big deal man.

This definitely reminded me of all the other dope boxing movies out there. Not in a bad way, just the same story line. It definitely was no Southpaw though haha. No one tops Eminem. The movie was an hour 45 min. My hg had to pee twice lmao I always make fun of her bladder.

0

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the fucking hot actress who plays Duran’s wife. First of all, there was a lot of Spanish dialogue, but it was hot lmao. Forever wishing I was fluent in another language. Anyways. Her name is Ana de Armas. This might be her breakthrough film haha. There’s a pretty intimate sex scene where hg gets naked. Her boobs are enormous.

Usher gets intimate with his girl too. Like you see his ass lmao. Fucking Hollywood.

I needed this movie tn. Life is unbearable rn. I hate the unknown guys. I hate not knowing the future. Some shit went down with my family too that really just broke my heart. Like, it made me so sad when I found out.

I went on a run last night for the first time in a minute, and it felt really good. Like really good. But I hate running lmao. Finally listened to most of PARTYNEXTDOOR’s P3 album. One of the 8 albums I have in queue. Had to look up how to spell that word lmao.

I didn’t work out today so I feel like I’m lacking in endorphins. Had chocolate though, does that count? Also why does literally everything in the world have to be bad for you? WHY.

TRACK OF THE DAY: This the jam.

Mechanic: Resurrection

0

Jessica Alba is bae. And literally there’s no way she popped a baby out of her haha. THhey literally created a scene so she could show off her body in a bikini lmao. Mechanic: Resurrection at The Grove at 8:40pm, fashionably late with my PIC. I only heard of this movie bc my bro saw her at Arclight Hollywood for the premiere and I freaked out cause I love her haha.Anyways. Today was nuts.

One thing I learned is that it’s okay to be a fan. Being in the industry, I have been exposed to a lot of rappers and celebrities. And if there’s someone who you truly admire and love, what they call fangirling, THAT’S OKAY. That’s how it should be. You SHOULD be a fan and freak out. Because they’re talented and to me, it’s a way of saying thank you. For your talents.

Anyways. Today was nuts. Literally my life has been insane lately, and I want to hide under a rock. Also, I started my FOMO blog on DX, so I’ll prob only use this for movies now. I know, you’re heartbroken. Check it out though!

http://hiphopdx.com/editorials/id.3421/title.fomoblog-kanyes-pop-up-shop-fail-young-dolph-is-prince-akeem-kap-g-got-the-girls

I had an interview in Santa Monica today to try to find a placement for my last year of fieldwork, and it was a total bust. It made me so sad. Literally had so much hope and it just stabbed me in the heart. She said they didn’t need any more interns. So why the fuck did you agree to meet with me? Smh. Whatever.

I really really wanna get back in school this semester. I have to. But it’s so beyond my control at this point. It sucks so much.

Worked all day. Then hit this dope boxing event. Well, it ended up being just a little worout sesh. Shout out to the girl who invited me out. It was promoting this TV film called Ringside, and all I got from the flier was that it was going to be a workout class. It was at The Body in Hollywood, and the trainer/owner is literally so lit. She opened it up with her boyfriend, and they’re just the hottest couple ever lmao. It is right across from Hollywood Cemetry on Santa Monica, but it took me 35 min to get there haha. Not lit.

I invited my girl and was super excited for it cause I wanted a hard workout haha. Turns out this event was legit all the cast of the movie. We were like uhhhhhh lmao. They were LIT. Like, hot af. And fit. So after they took pictures of themselves for like 10 years, they finally started the workout. They said it was going to be an hour but it ended being a lot shorter.

The warmup actually had me out of breath haha but I wanted more. Legit there was this one exercise with ropes that I couldn’t do and it made me so so sad. I have no upper body strength :(. My hg KILLED IT THOUGH. Shout out to her, she literally owned that shit. I’m jealous haha.

We actually also shot a video for DX compiling people’s reactions to the Frank Ocean hype. That should be lit. I was so ratch from the day though I was like I should not be on camera rn haha. *skull emoji*

We had plans to hit the movie after. I love The Grove so much haha. You already know it was popping. I gave my girl my last free pass haha but she deserved it cause we were late af. It didn’t matter though, this movie is all action so it really doesn’t matter if you miss any parts haha.

IMDB Plot: Arthur Bishop thought he had put his murderous past behind him when his most formidable foe kidnaps the love of his life. Now he is forced to travel the globe to complete three impossible assassinations, and do what he does best, make them look like accidents.

Do you guys like Jason Statham? I think he’s super lit. He always plays his role super well. There was a sex scene with Jessica Alba that was like whoa lmao. Like how many times they gotta film that until they get it? The movie was an hour 40. Totally doable.

The film got mixed reviews, but the low was pretty low. I swear it’s always because the picture is terrible. Like when you can tell they use a green screen… not lit. It makes the entire movie tacky af. I feel bad bc there was def potential there haha. Yo, bitches clapped after the movie. That was some shit.

The theater was packed too. But I guess it is opening night on a Friday. Makes sense. Man, I was just telling my girl why I love movies so much. Bc it’s an excuse to avoid the turn up haha. Seriously, fuck going out. I just don’t see the point. Getting drunk is such a waste of life. Although I was guilty of it for like way 8 years.

I guess this movie is the sequel to one a couple years ago. I was sad bc it was hella unrealistic. Like the shit Jason pulls off is just like…. impossible. Which made it less cool. His murders were fucking lit though. Literally nuts haha. It took place all around the world, but what really stuck out was how fucking beautiful Sydney, Australia was. I passed up a trip with my fam and 100% regret it. It’s gorgeous.

I’m soooooo scattered rn. Help.

TRACK OF THE DAY: Life.
