J. Cole’s “4 Your Eyez Only” Documentary Coming To HBO

J. Cole continues to prove himself as one of the best in the realm of Hip Hop. While the Dreamville founder intentionally remains below the radar when it comes to social media, he continues to give fans layers of himself in different ways.

Today (March 24), Cole releases the official trailer for his new documentary titled 4 Your Eyez Only. Fitting to the title, this short film will feature cuts from his fourth studio album, 4 Your Eyez Only, released at the end of last year.

“You gotta keep going” is the first line you hear as the minute-long preview begins. In line with the theme of the project, audiences are met with a transparent J. Cole, as they enter into his world.

Entertainment Weekly reports, “The documentary promises to illustrate how their struggles over viable housing, voting laws for felons, integration, and more mirror the frustrations felt across the nation.”

The short film will capture the lives of the less fortunate residing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Atlanta, Georgia; Ferguson, Missouri; Jonesboro, Arkansas; and Fayetteville, North Carolina (J. Cole’s hometown).

However, this isn’t the first short film that comes with 4 Your Eyez Only.

Released exclusively on Tidal, Eyez came as a surprise drop from the North Carolina MC, prior to the project’s release.

Now, he teams up with director Scott Lazer for round two. The pair previously collaborated on Cole’s previous documentary titled J. Cole Forest Hills Drive: Homecomingreleased alongside his 2014 album. Produced by Tim Grant, 4 Your Eyez Only is also executive produced by Cole, with the help of Ibrahim Hamad and Adam Roy Rodney.

Look out for the premiere on Saturday, April 15 at 10p.m. EST.
